Invisible boundaries 

I’m Sowparnika Ashokkannan, an Indian designer raised in a family where tailoring, Indian textiles, and fashion were essential. Watching my mum sew inspired my passion for fashion. Struggling to express my feelings verbally, I created my final year collection, "Invisible Boundaries," to translate these emotions into garments. "Invisible Boundaries" Collection My final collection explores human emotions, spatial confinement, and fashion as wearable art. I found freedom by blending with the walls in my room when anxious, realizing the world I feared was in my head. This collection reflects seeking solace within familiar spaces, symbolizing merging with surroundings for comfort and security. Inspired by Francesca Woodman and Antony Gormley, it addresses emotional confinement and liberation, reflecting struggles with anxiety and fear. Artistic Vision and Inspirations My work celebrates geometry and organic contours, translating architectural beauty into wearable art. Bold lines and spatial dynamics of iconic buildings inspire my design process, creating garments that reimagine the body as a living canvas. My goal is to empower individuals through wearable art, inspiring introspection and dialogue, and celebrating the human experience. Techniques and Craftsmanship Each garment showcases meticulous craftsmanship, emphasizing unconventional pattern-making and innovative sculptural silhouettes.
